Jadon Sancho completed a season-long loan to Aston Villa from Manchester United on deadline day, and manager Unai Emery has promised to help the winger.
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has revealed that his ambition is to guide Jadon Sancho back to the England national team following his arrival on the free stick from Manchester United. Sancho made it clear to the Red Devils at the start of the summer that he wanted another break from Old Trafford this season.

The winger was thought to secure a permanent transfer to Chelsea early in the window, but that transfer collapsed. The Blues were unable to agree personal terms with Sancho and were forced to pay United a £5 million compensation fee to withdraw from the deal. AS Roma were heavily linked as stakeholders for the 25-year-old but failed to come up with a formal approach.
Ahead of Villa’s trip to Everton this weekend, Emery confirmed that his priority was to nurture Sancho back into the player who is capable of representing his country before next summer’s World Cup.
“Yes, of course, this is my goal, to get him back to his best – and if he does, he will come back to the national team,” Emery declared at his press conference.
“Every player wants to be part of the national team. When he was at Borussia Dortmund, he performed fantastically. And he played 25 games for the national team, more or less. Of course, he’s still young.”
“He’s still hungry to show his capacity to play with his skills, his qualities, and hopefully we can leverage here, again, his best.”
It has been four years since Sancho last wore the England shirt. His last call-up under Gareth Southgate was for the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary. Sancho provided two assists against the former, helping the Three Lions to a big 5-0 victory.

Jadon Sancho was expected to be in the starting line-up for Villa this weekend, he could find himself on the bench for the West Midlands club’s first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium. (At half-time, the score is 0 – 0) Victor Lindelöf, another ex-Manchester United player, also started on the bench.
