Borussia Dortmund brought in their former superstar, Sancho, on loan for half a season in 2024. Here we saw the winger show some of the potential he had in the Dortmund shirt until his United transfer in 2021 for a wild €85 million. Still, Dortmund were not interested in meeting United’s demands for a transfer fee, nor Sancho’s sky-high salary expectations.

Now the situation is completely different. No big club is running down the door to sign Jadon Sancho on a free transfer this summer, a great opportunity for Borussia Dortmund to bring home their former supporter favourite. On Wednesday, the confirmation comes from Dortmund’s sporting director Lars Ricken.

-We are currently looking at many players and analyzing them. We check if they can make us better. We do the same with Jadon. Of course, we are looking for an attacking player who brings quality, can help us immediately and does not demand an unrealistic transfer fee,” Ricken told Bild.

With a clear message to Jadon Sancho that he needs to stick his finger in the ground and realize he is not a player to demand a juicy sign-on fee or salary terms as one of the club’s highest paid without delivering first.

In total, the English winger has 53 goals and 67 assists in 158 appearances for Dortmund. Now it’s up to the 26-year-old to make his comeback possible and palatable for the Dortmund management. Sancho still gets his big opportunity, it is in coming back to the club he is actually still a star of.
