Manchester City have shown great interest in signing Jamal Musiale. For Bayern Munich in negotiations for an extension with the 21-year-old, the plan was to be able to wave a new contract before Christmas. Christmas and New Year came and went, still no agreement in Munich. The negotiations are still ongoing, where Musiala is said to have put forward a demand that the Bayern management definitely does not like.
When Bayern Munich invest in a player for the long term, then it is literally too long. If the player underperforms, the road out of the club is short, but the Bundesliga giant does not want to lose a player the attack is built around – without the club itself wanting it. According to Sport Bild, Musiala’s representatives have put forward a demand for a buyout clause baked into an extension.
The German media claims the 21-year-old is demanding a buyout clause of 175 million euros. Astronomical sum, but still possible for one of the giant clubs that prioritizes signing Germany’s greatest offensive talent.
Demands for a buyout clause are normally a no-go for Bayern management, so Manchester City and the other suitors are following the process closely.
