In the first days after it became clear that Leicester City would be relegated, there was hope that the club’s biggest star and living legend Jamie Vardy would once again take on the job of lifting them back to the Premier League.

An era is almost over

Jamie Vardy will say goodbye to Leicester City at the end of this season. The experienced English striker, an undisputed symbol figure for the “Foxes”, is preparing for a heartfelt farewell after over a decade at the club where he achieved historic feats – not least the unforgettable Premier League championship in 2016. However, his future could still remain in English football, with several clubs interested in his services despite the fact that he is now 37 years old.

Everton appear to be one of the strongest candidates to secure the striker. The sporting management at the Liverpool-based club value both his experience and goalscoring flair – qualities they see as crucial to bolstering the attacking line. Although Vardy no longer has the speed of youth, his lethality in front of goal is intact and he could be an immediate solution to the team’s offensive challenges.

Vardy’s name still evokes respect in English football. His work ethic and ability to perform under pressure make him an attractive option for a club that needs leadership figures. Even in the Championship, Vardy has shown that he has not lost his competitive instinct and Everton can leverage his experience to strengthen the dressing room environment with leadership and character.

All indications are that the 37-year-old striker will remain in England’s top division after finishing his Leicester chapter, albeit in a more limited role. Everton’s interest is significant and talks have started and if discussions develop, it is not ruled out that Vardy could wear the blue shirt next season. The transfer will depend in part on the sporting project presented to him, as well as the player’s own willingness to continue at the top level in such a demanding league as the Premier League.

A potential signing that will bring both experience, goalscoring and winning mentality to Goodison Park – qualities Everton need in their ongoing transition phase.
