Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran from Medellín in Columbia was tempted by big money in Saudi Arabia and it only took €77 million plus bonuses to convince Aston Villa as well. – No wonder really, Transfermarkt believes that the 21-year-old has never been worth more than €40 million so far.
After short negotiations, Jhon Duran got on the plane down to the desert country at the end of January. – There was nothing as expected, while his teammate in Al-Nassr could live with his girlfriend, he (and everyone else) had to be married to have a partner. For anyone who is not Cristiano Ronaldo or a member of the royal family, life is pretty boring.

After only six months in Saudi Arabia, the Colombian is ready for a new chapter.
Loan agreement with Fenerbahçe
The Turkish giants have now presented Durán on a season-long loan. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Fenerbahçe will take over his entire salary during the loan period. “That’s impressive considering that he earns 392,500 euros a week.
In Turkey, he will probably face another top striker, Victor Osimhen, who is also on his way to finding his signature pen.
Mourinho as a driving force – It is said to have been the opportunity to play for “one of the greats” that was decisive.
Fenerbahçe have been coached by José Mourinho for the past 12 months, and the Portuguese is said to have been a decisive factor in persuading Durán to choose the Istanbul club.
Duran career
Before his transfer to Al-Nassr, Durán played for:
- Aston Villa (Premier League)
- Chicago Fire (MLS)
During the spring, he scored 12 goals in 18 games for Al-Nassr.
This loan spell gives Durán the opportunity to prove himself in Europe again under Mourinho – and perhaps secure a more permanent solution.
