Evans announces the end of his playing career
Jonny Evans stated:
“I would like to officially announce that I am retiring as a player – not with sadness, but with pride, gratitude and joy for the next chapter. I will forever be grateful to the coaches, support staff and of course the teammates that I have had the privilege of working with throughout my 20 years as a professional footballer.
My biggest and most heartfelt thanks must go to the fans who have supported me throughout my journey. It has been an honour to be on the pitch and feel their passion, both at home and away. I will always be grateful for all the support.
I look forward to working with the next generation of talented players to help them reach their potential. With my own experience from loan stays, I know how important such periods can be for a player’s development. I look forward to helping to further develop the path to the first team and continue the legacy of young players who are thriving at Manchester United.”
