Strømsgodset and Jørgen Isnes have agreed to part ways after two and a half years. – The poor start to the season peaked when the Drammen club on Sunday lost 3 – 2 away to Sandefjord at Jotun Arena.
Strømsgodset has chosen to end the collaboration with head coach Jørgen Isnes after a disappointing series opener. The Drammen club is now in the qualifying place with only six points from eight games.
Isnes was the second Eliteserien coach to be fired today. – A little earlier, it was FK Haugesund coach Sanjeeb Manoharan who had to go.

Isnes, who took over the coaching responsibility in January 2023 after making a name for himself in the YMCA, expresses gratitude in a farewell statement:
- “It has been a great honor to lead Strømsgodset for the past two and a half years. I have woken up with joy every single day and given all my time, energy and passion to lead the club back to where it belongs – both sportingly and through a style of play Marienlyst can be proud of.”
Workaround
The club reports that they are now working to find an interim head coach. Sporting director Andreas Hoven will take the daily training responsibility until one is in place.
Isnes’ period thus ends with a weak statistic:
- 1.23 points per game average in 2024
- Only one win in eight league rounds
- 16 goals conceded – second most in the Eliteserien
Strømsgodset will now start the search for a new coach who can reverse the negative development before it is too late.
