It is surprising even for Real Madrid what immediate success Jude Bellingham had after they bought him from Borussia Dortmund in 2023 for a starting fee of 103 million euros.

Jude Bellingham has been linked with a shocking move to a Premier League club that could involve another player.

Bellingham continues his meteoric rise in the football hierarchy.

In his first season, he was used in more advanced areas by Carlo Ancelotti and scored 19 goals in La Liga. That number dropped last season, but he continues to play a crucial role in new Xabi Alonso. A lot in the Spanish capital revolves around Kylian Mbappe, which is said to have annoyed Jude Bellingham and thus opened the door for a possible exit. – That to a club that has plenty of cash or something else Real Madrid wants.

Transfermarkt currently ranks the 22-year-old as the fourth most valuable player in world football, worth €160 million.

It would therefore require an incredible turn of events for Bellingham to leave the Bernabéu – but Spanish website Fichajes claims that such a deal is not out of the realm of possibility.

They claim that Chelsea star Cole Palmer is of interest to Manchester City, who could try to reunite him with Enzo Maresca if the now former Blues boss takes over at City this summer.

The Athletic reported last month that Maresca was high on the club’s shortlist to replace Pep Guardiola, amid concerns that the Spaniard is already in his final season at Manchester.

Fichajes adds that Bellingham has emerged as a “dream signing” for Chelsea if they have to find a replacement for Palmer.

It adds that the Blues management “know that it would be a colossal operation” to sign the 22-year-old, both because Real do not want to sell and because of the finances involved.

Bellingham, for his part, is said to feel “convinced that his best form has yet to come in Spain” and currently has no desire to leave.

The signing of the midfielder by Chelsea will also largely go against their transfer policy in recent years.

The Blues have tended to sign younger players with the potential to develop into first-team stars – which, despite his age, clearly doesn’t apply to Bellingham, who is already established as a world-class.

Liam Rosenior is Chelsea’s new manager following Maresca’s departure and will work with a number of midfield talents, including Palmer, Moisés Caicedo, Enzo Fernández and Andrey Santos, whom he coached in Strasbourg.

Aside from Palmer, however, there isn’t significant depth in the central attacking midfield space – which is one of the many reasons why Chelsea will be so keen to keep the English star.
