It’s probably not what German manager Jürgen Klopp is thinking about, but the fact is that he is putting obstacles in the way of his old club Liverpool.
Klopp is now Red Bull’s global head of football.
The 57-year-old ended his era at Anfield after the 2023/24 season after winning eight trophies, including the Premier League in 2019/20 and the Champions League the year before.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss now holds the role of Red Bull’s “Head of Global Soccer” and oversees the group’s network of clubs, including RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig.
And he could suddenly have a big impact on a possible Liverpool transfer.
According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Klopp is keen to bring Real Madrid’s Arda Güler to RB Leipzig – Liverpool also want the Turkish international.
Who is Arda Güler?
- 20-year-old Turkish talent
- Signed for Real Madrid in July 2023
- Burned through at Euro 2024 with strong performances
- Has struggled with injuries this season (only 3 goals in 31 games)
- Contract until 2029 – valued at €45 million
Carlo Ancelotti recently praised Güler after a good game in Madrid’s 3-2 win against Leganés:
“He played well and showed quality. He reads the game well and is technically strong, although he doesn’t have as explosiveness as our other attackers.”
- Klopp could put obstacles in the way of Liverpool’s plans by bringing Güler to Leipzig.
- Real Madrid are considering a possible loan move to give him more playing time.
- Bournemouth have also been linked with a loan deal, as part of a potential swap for Dean Huijsen.
With a long contract and great potential, Madrid are unlikely to let Güler leave permanently. But a loan to Leipzig or Bournemouth could open the door to a future transfer.
