The England international was the first signing of the new owners in 2022, the right-back has played a pivotal role in transforming the Magpies from relegation contenders to trophy winners. On Easter Sunday, the 35-year-old announces that he will leave the club after the end of the season.
His arrival was a strong signal for a team that was fighting for survival in the Premier League at the time. Beyond his technical qualities, Trippier was credited with overhauling the club’s internal culture. Leaving St. James’ Park after playing over 150 games, he has successfully led the team to Champions League qualification and cemented his status as a modern club legend.

Trippier’s departure marks the end of a historic period that culminated in the Carabao Cup triumph over Liverpool in 2025. The victory ended Newcastle’s 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy, a moment the defender ranks as the highlight of his professional life.
“The time has come to leave this fantastic club after four and a half years,” he said on the club’s official website. “This is where I have felt most at home. It’s emotional, and I’m really going to miss it. I want to say a big thank you to the supporters for all the support through good and bad times. You have always supported me, always stood by my side,” Trippier begins to the club’s website.
-To my teammates, it’s going to be emotional. It has been a fantastic journey with you. I’m going to miss you all, but winning a trophy with you was really, really special – the best thing of my career. And to the manager Eddie Howe, the whole coaching staff and the team behind the scenes, a big thank you. The coach had the confidence – twice – to sign me, gave me the opportunity to represent and captain this great club, and most importantly, we managed to win a trophy. I’m going to miss everyone at the club,” says the English player.
