FC Barcelona have their eyes on a striker from the Premier League.
Chairman Joan Laporta already has an alternative solution in mind if Robert Lewandowski eventually leaves FC Barcelona this summer. Barcelona’s president is keeping a close eye on Nicolas Jackson, the Chelsea striker, who could be the ideal replacement for the Polish striker. The possible transfer of Lewandowski to Saudi Arabia has caused concern at the club, and in this situation, the Senegalese player is emerging as an exciting option in the offices of Barcelona.

Jackson, 24 years old, already knows Spanish football from his time at Villarreal, and his adaptation to LaLiga’s style of play could be immediate. With 13 goals in 33 appearances in his first season for the London-based side, his performances have not entirely convinced the relatively new manager Enzo Maresca, and his future at Stamford Bridge is not guaranteed. His speed, physical strength and ability to play in open spaces are appreciated in the Barcelona environment, qualities that fit Hansi Flick’s vision.
Barcelona have Robert Lewandowski on the agenda
Although his arrival will primarily be seen as a natural transition after the Lewandowski era, the possibility of having both players for a period of time is also on the table. But for now, it seems unlikely that they will coexist in the squad, especially because of the financial adjustments it will require. It all depends on the outcome of the Lewandowski situation and Chelsea’s real interest in a negotiation.
It is clear that Barça are planning ahead to avoid being without a leading goalscorer. The Pole’s age and the interest from Saudi Arabian football have forced Laporta to think about the near future, with Jackson’s name becoming increasingly likely in that planning.
