Today’s news from Anfield today that Marcelo Pitaluga, who joined Liverpool in 2020 from Brazilian side Fluminense, has now decided to move on.

Not heard of Marcelo Pitaluga, you say? Then you are one of many who have not noticed that the Brazilian goalkeeper plays for the Premier League’s best club. Now you just have time to get to know the 22-year-old before he disappears from the ball island.

When you play goalkeeper for Liverpool, you have to come to terms with the fact that the club has perhaps the world’s best goalkeeper in Alisson and what supporters like to call “the world’s best second goalkeeper” in Kelleher. For the talented Brazilian goalkeeper Pitaluga, the dream of replacing the Brazilian hero Alisson has not come any closer.

After almost five years at the club and three loan spells, it is now clear that Pitaluga will return to Rio de Janeiro. Liverpool confirmed it all an hour ago, subject to approval from authorities in Brazil.

Fluminense will not pay a transfer fee. Instead, the Merseyside club has secured a 40 percent resale clause.

Pitaluga was brought to Liverpool since then, since joining the club, has only sat on the bench for the first team, watched games in Liverpool’s second team and loaned out to St. Pat’s, Macclesfield FC and Livingston.
