Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Leeds had signalled interest in a disgruntled Real Madrid player. It sounds unbelievable that Elland Park tempts Real players out of Madrid, but in this case, Daniel Farke and Leeds can offer exactly what the player is looking for.

The 21-year-old Gonzalo Garcia has only been given a shred of playing time (96 minutes in La Liga) at Real Madrid ever since his outstanding performance in the Club World Cup, and is said to be open to a move to the Premier League. After winning the Championship last season, Leeds built up Farke’s squad significantly, and that included strengthening their options in attack, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha being signed during the summer transfer window. So far, this has not been enough.

The two strikers and last season’s top scorer Joel Piroe have not really got off to a good start in the Premier League, only three goals combined in the first 11 games sums up the situation well.

Givemesports points to recent reports that Leeds United are considering a surprise purchase of Real Madrid striker Garcia in January, the £17 million price tag is within reach for the club.

The Spanish striker could be one of the players leaving Real this winter, and for Leeds, the signing of Garcia should be a no-brainer, reports the English media. Leeds have one of the weakest goalscoring records in the Premier League, with 10 goals in 11 games – only bottom-placed Wolves have scored fewer. If Garcia is tempted by plenty of playing time in the world’s toughest league, then Leeds will have to go all in.
