Leeds are back in the Premier League. For those who have followed the club’s journey with Marcelo Bielsa to the historic return to the top division, it was heavy first to see the Argentine pushed out and replaced with Jesse Marsh, then the elevator down to the Championship. Daniel Farke has been trusted to get the proud club to establish themselves for the long run in the Premier League, now the German reports a player Leeds want to move on, but who will not be part of this journey.

It’s all about Mateo Joseph. The 21-year-old was brought to Leeds in 2022 from Espanyol’s academy. Last season, the striker was on the pitch in a whopping 39 Championship games with 3 goals and 4 assists, but is dropping out of the Premier League and wants to leave.

“He came to us and said that he wanted a new challenge and wanted to change clubs. He has also indicated that he prefers a transfer to Spain because of his Spanish roots. And yes, it was basically his decision,” Farke begins to Sky Sports.

Before he makes it clear that the sale will only happen when Leeds are happy with the bidding.

“It’s also clear that we as a club have invested a lot – time, money, support and so on – and he has a long-term contract. One thing is for sure: we will only make a transfer possible if a club emerges that meets our expectations,” says Farke.

10 games for the England U20 national team, so 12 games for the Spanish U21 team tells of the solid talent. Bad for Leeds, but that’s football.
