Things are looking better for Leeds manager Daniel Farke after making his way up from the relegation zone in the Premier League. With greater job security, there is more focus on the future again.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Leeds United are considering a winter raid to sign Coventry City star Haji Wright.

The Whites have had an okay start to life in the Premier League after promotion from the Championship, they sit 15th in the table with 11 points from their first nine games.

This comes after Daniel Farke attempted to overhaul his squad over the summer, bringing in ten new faces, including forwards Noah Okafor, Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. But goals have been a problem so far, with only nine goals scored, and now the club is considering a move for a new option to bolster their attacking line.

Wright, who has been described as “incredible”, has found a new level of form since English legend Frank Lampard took over as manager of Coventry, scoring nine goals in 13 appearances so far this season. The Sky Blues are at the top of the Championship table and are causing problems for Wrexham’s plans for another direct promotion.

That form has attracted interest from Leeds as they try to find a way to score more goals and ensure they stay in the top flight, and they are now considering making an offer for the US international in January.

Any deal is expected to be difficult to complete due to Coventry’s position in the league, and it is highly unlikely that they are willing to part ways with such an important star in the middle of the season, as it could affect their promotion chase.

After bringing in Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin for their striker options in the summer, the season’s top scorer from last season, Joel Piroe, has been moved to the sidelines for much of the season. The Dutch attacker has only received 285 minutes of playing time in all competitions so far, and has yet to find his way to the finish.

A new striker coming into the club would surely banish him even further down the ladder, and he wouldn’t be happy with that, as he feels he can offer more to a club either in the top division or even in the Championship, considering his goalscorers throughout his career.

Wright has never played in the Premier League, so it would definitely represent a gamble, but it’s clear that Leeds and Farke feel they need more in front of goal in 2026, and the 27-year-old has emerged as a serious option.’
