Ten days in January, the door is open to sign one of the Premier League’s hottest wingers. Antoine Semenyo’s £65 million buyout clause is activated, the quartet of Liverpool, Manchester City, United and Tottenham are all on to persuade the Ghanaian international. Liverpool legend Barnes, with his 406 appearances in the red shirt, advises his old club to steer clear.
-January is not the time to sign players. And if you look at what we have, we have no problem scoring goals and creating chances. We have Gakpo, we have Isak, we have Wirtz, we still have Mo. We have Ngumoha. It’s not a problem for us. So of course, if you feel like you want him for the long term, but I don’t think January is the time to sign players,” Barnes begins, according to Goal.

-So, and I don’t know from Manchester City’s point of view, he’s going to play in front of the guys they have there. So, from that point of view, is he a very, very good player for £65 million? And if that doesn’t work, are you going to sign another one for £100 million in January? No, we have a good enough squad. He’s a good player. The club has to decide. I think we have problems in other positions that we have to look at before Semenyo… For me, January is never a time to sign players,” the Liverpool legend says.
