Leo Østigård has had to come to terms with being on the bench for the Norwegian national team this year. The centre-back helped Napoli to the Serie A title in 2022/23, then disappeared to Rennes, quickly sent on loan to Hoffenheim, before returning to Serie A on loan at Genoa in the summer. Here it has loosened up again for the fierce defender, full of offensive DNA. On Thursday, Serie A presents the Norwegian international as a candidate for a prestigious award.
Østigård is a given in the starting eleven at Genoa, both with Patrick Vieira being sacked in November and Danielle de Rossi, who has led the club just above the relegation zone.
