Arsenal have long been interested in Leroy Sané, but at the same time thought that it has been too difficult/expensive to get a deal. Now, however, things are looking brighter in terms of manager Mikel Arteta’s eyes.

Leroy Sané has said “no” to Bayern Munich’s latest offer to renew his contract. The 29-year-old German right winger is not happy with the financial terms proposed by the Bavarian club: 10 million euros in fixed amounts plus 5,5 million euros in variable amounts. This has been confirmed by media such as Bild and Sky Sports, and journalist Florian Plettenberg is adamant that the player has no intention of accepting.

Although Bayern have not ruled out further negotiations, they have no intention of improving their proposal. “He and his agency know the conditions and we hope he decides in our favour,” Max Eberl, the club’s sporting director, said last Friday.

Arsenal and Chelsea on the hunt
Meanwhile, interest from England is increasing. Arsenal are monitoring the situation closely and could step up their offensive in the coming weeks. Chelsea have also asked about the striker, who is already familiar with the Premier League after his time at Manchester City.

Sané joined Bayern in 2020, and his current contract runs for just 6 more weeks. A change of agent – now represented by Pini Zahavi – and a refusal to sign a contract with a lower salary fuel rumours of his exit. Unless something unexpected happens, his future could once again lie in the Premier League.

This means that a player who at its peak was worth 100 million euros will soon be completely free on the market.
