David Beckham has made what must be called a comment for the first time since his son’s sensational social media move on Monday. Brooklyn, the eldest of David and Victoria Beckham’s four children, unleashed a bombshell statement on social media in which he blamed his parents and family for the treatment of his wife Nicola Peltz.

The 26-year-old claimed that his parents have tried to control him for most of his life to protect the “Beckham brand.”

Brooklyn also accused his mother of intentionally disrupting his wedding, including an “inappropriate” dance, and insisted that he “doesn’t want to reconcile” with his family.

What were David’s first public words after his son’s outburst?

David participated in CNBC’s financial program “Squawk Box”, where he talked about mistakes children can make on social media.

“I’ve always talked about social media and the power of social media… for good and for evil,” said the former Manchester United, England and Real Madrid star.

“What children can access these days can be dangerous.

“But what I’ve found, especially with my own children as well, is to use it for the right purposes.

“I’ve been able to use my platform for my followers, for UNICEF.

“And it’s been the biggest tool to make people aware of what’s happening around the world for children.

“They make mistakes, but children should be allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn. That’s what I’m trying to teach my children.

“Sometimes you have to let them make those mistakes, too.”

His comments came after he went through a morning of press praise while posing for the camera at the 56th annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The forum could not have been worse timed for the 50-year-old after the events the night before. Nevertheless, Beckham showed up dressed in a suit for the occasion and performed his duties in front of the waiting media.

At one point, he was asked by a Sky News reporter if he had a message for Brooklyn.

He was further pressured by the journalist who asked: “David, are you disappointed that your family is airing their dirty laundry in public?”

The co-owner of Inter Miami refused to answer any of the questions as fans thronged to get a better glimpse of the former footballer.

Brooklyn’s complaint

The Beckham family’s affairs escalated after Brooklyn posted a lengthy statement on his Instagram account.

It said: “I have kept quiet for years and done everything possible to keep these matters private.

“Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about just some of the lies that have been printed.

“I don’t want to reconcile with my family. I am not controlled, I stand up for myself for the first time in my life.

“All my life, my parents have controlled the narratives in the press about our family.

“The alleged social media posts, family events, and inauthentic relationships have been a regular part of the life I was born into.

“Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths they will go to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, in order to preserve their own façade. But I believe the truth always comes out.

“The night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was ‘not blood’ and ‘not family.’

“Since the moment I began to stand up for myself against my family, I have received endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, which were sent to the press on their orders.

“Even my brothers were sent to attack me on social media, before finally blocking me out of the blue last summer.”

He went into details about the ongoing events of the 2022 wedding, claiming that his mother “hijacked his and his new bride’s first dance and danced with him on stage at Nicola’s expense.”

“She danced very inappropriately with me in front of everyone. I have never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,” he wrote.

“My wife has consistently been treated disrespectfully by my family, no matter how hard we have tried to get along.

“My mother has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly meant to make us both uncomfortable.”

Brooklyn also explained his version of events after he didn’t show up for his father’s lavish 50th birthday last year.

Brooklyn’s absence was the subject of much media attention at the time, but he now claims that David “declined” all his attempts to meet somewhere private.

“He turned down all our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras in every corner,” Brooklyn wrote.

“When he finally agreed to see me, it was on the condition that Nicola was not invited.

“It was a slap in the face. Later, when my family traveled to LA, they refused to meet me at all.”

David Beckham is concerned with the construction of a new stadium, which ironically will be called Miami Freedom Park.
