Last week, the first reports came from Germany. Dortmund player Malen has previously been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal, but now it is the Premier League’s 8th best club that goes from words to action.
Dutch right winger Donyell Malen was brought to Borussia Dortmund for 30 million in 2021. It started with some really tough seasons for Malen, but last season the 25-year-old woke up and was an important contributor to the success in the Champions League that went all the way to the final.
Two years ago, Dortmund worked to sell or give away Malen, both Turkey and Saudi Arabia were relevant next stops, but he stuck. Then came last season’s convincing performance, where it was reported from the ball island last winter that both Manchester United and Arsenal (played two years at the academy) were interested in the Dutch international.
The Athletic reported last week that there are advanced negotiations between Aston Villa and Dortmund, according to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Aston Villa and Malen have now agreed on the personal terms.
Villa and Dortmund are still negotiating amounts of around €25 million, but both parties are ready to make the transfer a reality.
This is happening.
