The Uruguayan striker wants to leave Liverpool in this summer’s transfer window.
Liverpool have been clear: Any club that wants to sign Darwin Núñez this summer must make a minimum offer of €80 million. This has been determined by the sporting directors of the English club, knowing that – despite doubts about the Uruguayan striker’s performance – his potential and offensive numbers still hold a high market value. The interest from Saudi Arabia, led by Al Hilal, has reopened the debate about his future.

After rejecting a €70 million offer from Al Nassr in January, Liverpool’s sporting management believes that this amount should only be the starting point. Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, who are responsible for the club’s player planning, aim to recoup a significant portion of the record-breaking investment made in 2022 when Núñez was brought in from Benfica.
Núñez’s performance is up to par
In terms of performance, the striker has shown solid productivity: With 25 goals and 13 assists in 49 games from the start, he maintains a competitive average – especially for the Saudi Arabian market, where attacking quality and immediate impact are highly valued. Moreover, his openness to a potential move to the Saudi Pro League could speed up developments in the coming weeks.

At the same time, it is not ruled out that Liverpool will bring in reinforcements in the attacking line, so a possible sale of Núñez could also help reshape the squad with new attacking profiles. Europe is currently lagging behind in this operation, as very few clubs on the continent can match the sums being discussed in the Middle East.
