Liverpool will strengthen six different positions in a hefty summer window, and the club have received a massive boost in their pursuit of a record-breaking deal for Florian Wirtz.
Liverpool won the Premier League in Arne Slot’s first season as manager, but his team could look completely different next year. Georgi Mamardashvili was brought in in the summer of 2024, and the Georgian goalkeeper will replace Caoimhin Kelleher as a first reserve for Alisson Becker.

In addition to Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong will take over the right-back spot from Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Liverpool are actively working to sign Milos Kerkez for the left-back position. According to TEAMtalk, the Hungarian player has already agreed to personal terms, and negotiations are now focusing on the transfer fee.
According to Sky Germany’sFlorian Plettenberg, the full-back signings are just the tip of the iceberg, with more reinforcements on the way.
Plettenberg wrote on social media:
“The plans at Liverpool are in full swing. The main priorities now are to bring in a centre-back, a left-back, a playmaker (number 10) and a winger.
– Left-back: Milos Kerkez is the top priority. Jorrel Hato is also on the shortlist.
– Number 10: Florian Wirtz is the first target – and they are not willing to give up chasing him.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has repeatedly confirmed that Liverpool also want a new striker, as Darwin Núñez is on his way out.
Núñez has interest from European clubs, but he is expected to end up in the Saudi Arabian league.
If Liverpool sign Frimpong, Kerkez, a centre-back, a number 10 (possibly Wirtz), a winger and a striker, they will have brought in six new players – in addition to Mamardashvili.

Latest news about Florian Wirtz
Wirtz (22) is already a superstar and, along with Jamal Musiala, is considered the future of German football. But his time at Bayer Leverkusen may be over, and the battle for his signature has now narrowed from three to two clubs.
Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Liverpool have all shown interest in Wirtz. According to The Times, Manchester City could now be removed from the list after new talks with the player’s representatives.
Leverkusen’s €150 million price tag is said to have scared City away. Manchester City wanted a quick clarification and did not want to be dragged into a lengthy transfer saga.
This makes sense for City, as they lose Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer and need an immediate replacement.
If Liverpool don’t get Wirtz, Arne Slot could still use Dominik Szoboszlai as his regular number 10. In any case, it is now clear that Liverpool’s only competitor for Wirtz is Bayern Munich.
If Liverpool manage to persuade Wirtz to choose England, they will have to “smash” their transfer record. Their most expensive purchase yet is Darwin Núñez, who cost £85 million (including bonuses) when he joined from Benfica.
Leverkusen may not get their full desired sum of 150 million euros, but Wirtz will not go for less than 110 million euros.
And perhaps most importantly for Liverpool: Leverkusen prefer to sell him to a club outside their own league and their biggest competitor Bayern Munich. Losing their biggest star to a rival is something they want to avoid at all costs.
