Liverpool have already struck the transfer market and are in the process of securing their first signing for next season. According to English media and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club will pay the release clause of 35 million euros for Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, who is set to sign a five-year contract.

From Bundesliga success to the Premier League

The 24-year-old Dutchman has been one of the most prominent players in Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen team, which won the Bundesliga by a wide margin this season. With 14 goals and 12 assists in 47 appearances, Frimpong has impressed with his explosive, unpredictable and highly attacking style of play – a contrast to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s more creative role.

With Alexander-Arnold heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid as a free agent, Frimpong’s arrival could be a perfect replacement – both sportingly and market-wise.

Arne Slot, who is about to finish his first season as Liverpool manager, is now faced with the question of how to integrate Frimpong into his system. Far from a traditional defender, the Dutch full-back could take on a more advanced role if Slot wants to take advantage of his running strength and attacking ability.

At the same time, Liverpool have secured the future of Conor Bradley, 21, who recently extended his contract and will compete for the place at right-back.

“I am very proud and grateful to sign a new agreement. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with the club,” Bradley told Liverpoolfc.com.

With the Premier League title already in the box, Liverpool continue to build after Jürgen Klopp’s exit last summer. Frimpong’s signing is just the beginning of an extensive restructuring, and more reinforcements are expected during the summer.
