The Reds spent £415 million on transfers in the summer window and welcomed stars such as Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak.

The summer transfer window for 2025 only closed on 1 September, but time flies and Liverpool have already set their sights on goals for next year, goals that will thrill fans of victory.

Arne Slot bolstered his already stellar Liverpool squad with ten arrivals in the summer window, as the Dutchman aims to lead the Reds to a second consecutive Premier League title.

The most high-profile transfers were Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. Wirtz signed from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported sum of £100 million plus additional costs worth up to £16 million in June, before Ekitike arrived for an initial sum of £69 million from Eintracht Frankfurt, despite interest from both Newcastle United and Manchester United.

The Reds’ pursuit of Isak, on the other hand, was less straightforward, and the saga lasted until deadline day before the Swede signed a six-year contract and completed a £125m transfer from the Magpies.

Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giovanni Leoni, Giorgio Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, Freddie Woodman and Will Wright also joined Liverpool in the summer window. The most notable departures included Trent Alexander-Arnold, who joined Real Madrid for £10 million before the Club World Cup in June, and Ben Gannon Doak, who signed for Bournemouth for a reported sum of £25 million.

Harvey Elliott made a season-long loan move to Aston Villa.

And just when you would think that Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes might get some rest, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

According to the Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele, the Reds are already planning for next summer.

Steele claims that Aston Villa’s attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers was of “interest” to Liverpool in June, but sources close to the club told him “no” at the time – although there is no indication that this is completely off the table, despite there being no direct plans in place at the moment.

He also hinted that Liverpool want a “long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah” and could consider bringing in up to two players for the Egyptian’s position next summer, with Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as a potential target.

The 23-year-old French international Olise has Premier League experience from his time at Crystal Palace and has since flourished at Bayern in Germany.

Olise joined the Bundesliga giants for £50.8 million in July 2024. His 43 goal points – 20 goals and 23 assists – in 56 games helped Bayern win the German title in 2024/25. The winger is under contract with Bayern until 2029 and could bring in a significant sum.

Supporters quickly react to Olise’s links on social media.

One said: “Guehi in January. Wharton and Olise in the summer.”

Another added: “Ekitike and Olise will be teammates at Liverpool next summer.”

A third claimed: “Olise, Wharton, Rogers and Guehi are the four players I am watching as potential Liverpool targets. All of them are homegrown, which really helps.”
