Too good to be true for Liverpool. Still, in five days’ time, the Premier League’s best club can put forward a contract – as it stands now – and sign one of the Euros’ best attacking players for free. Welcome to the chaos story Dani Olmo.

Barcelona are struggling with continued financial problems. Olmo was therefore only registered in La Liga for six months from this summer, but if Barcelona do not have the finances to register the European Championship star for the second half of the 2024/25 season, there is a clause in the player’s contract that allows him to leave the Spanish club for free next month.

The Liverpool Echo reported earlier this month on Liverpool’s interest in Olmo: “A player of this calibre can offer a much-needed boost heading deeper into the Premier League title race, and in the long term, his so-called ‘best years’ are yet to come”.

Now it can actually happen.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have tried to register Olmo since Ter Stegen is out on long-term injury, but this has been rejected in court. The Spanish media reports Barcelona now have until December 31 to find a solution, otherwise Olmo can leave the club on January 1 as a free agent.

Barcelona are working at full speed, a new court hearing is set for December 30. Meanwhile, Liverpool are getting ready.
