Intense work is being done at Anfield to secure the trio of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk

However, it is unknown whether an agreement has actually been signed. The impression is that a deal can be done already, although it is quite possible that Liverpool and Van Dijk are at a stage where things are just a formality.

Without a bizarre late twist, but Van Dijk will stay at Liverpool. And it could be formally announced very soon.

Virgil van Dijk signs new Liverpool contract
Van Dijk’s contract was always seen as the easiest to get done – regardless of the fans. The defender arguably remains the world’s best in his position and shows no signs of slowing down.

On top of that, his wage demands are simply not on par with Mohamed Salah’s. It’s a more comfortable deal for Liverpool to make.

And one that the Reds are naturally excited about. Van Dijk is the core member of Liverpool’s defence and one of the most important figures in the team.

His form this season has been such that the awards can pour out towards the end of the campaign. He has adapted flawlessly to life under Arne Slot as well, and is a big part of Liverpool’s early success.

And with the good times on the way, Liverpool are set to offer another boost to fans with news of Van Dijk’s new contract.
