Pierre Kalulu, Francisco Conceicao and Khephren Thuram have become some of Juventus’ most important players since last season, and all three players will be goals for Liverpool.

Last week, SportWitness covered claims from Italy about their interest in the French defender. The idea was really pushed forward by Il Giornale, with Manchester United also mentioned as a suitor.

This happened right after the Portuguese winger was mentioned as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Conceicao himself took up the conversation and clarified that he is happy in Turin. Liverpool have made first contact for him, but a deal is not expected to be easy.

Speculation about this has only increased in Italy, as Gazzetta dello Sport is specifically looking at the Reds’ possible shopping spree in Turin.

Liverpool are keen on three Juve players

The newspaper believes that sirens from the Reds are ‘ringing loudly’ at the Bianconeri. Although Juve do not want to sell their key players, a lack of placement in the top four could potentially force them to act.

They start with Conceicao, who is seen as a replacement for Salah. The winger came to Turin for a sum of up to €32 million – including the loan fee. To complete a sale, they need 20 million to 25 million euros more. Earning around 50 million euros will help them make a significant gain.

The price tag is likely to be lower for Kalulu, who currently weighs 11 million euros in the old lady’s accounts.

Gazzetta claims that many English clubs – probably including Liverpool – have investigated the defender. As of now, Juve will only accept huge offers for him, with a previously mentioned price of around 30 million euros.

Thuram, on the other hand, joined the Italian team for €20 million and has become probably their most important player under all managers. The Reds have been investigating him, as have Manchester United, with Juve likely to accept a sum of €40 million for his sale.

How Juve’s season ends will determine everything. If they finish in the top four, they won’t be forced to sell, but failure to qualify for the Champions League could potentially spell disaster.

Of the three, only Thuram and Kalulu would be potential upgrades from what Liverpool have now. The 25-year-old defender has immense versatility, and if Ibrahima Konate leaves the pitch, he could blend in seamlessly as a centre-back.

Thuram is a much better option than Curtis Jones, who himself was linked with a move to Serie A in January. He could also prove to be the best of all midfield options at Anfield right now.

Conceicao has problems with consistency. He has moments of brilliance in him, but has never translated them into regular effect. Bringing him in to replace someone like Salah could prove disappointing. That said, any replacement for Salah is likely to be several steps down from the Anfield legend.

The cost for all three Juventus players will be around €120 million, and Liverpool will know that there is an opportunity there. While they probably won’t take all three, the sales situation will become even more attractive if Juve don’t finish where they should.
