Now work is being done to lay out the course for the next great Liverpool captain.
There are of course several candidates for the job when Van Dijk leaves Anfield, but in the last year a Hungarian international has stood out as captain material.

They are, of course, about Dominik Szoboszlai. This season, the midfielder/right-back has been one of Liverpool’s big names, according to The Athletic, Liverpool management are now working on extending his contract beyond 2028.
Talks with Szobo’s representatives are underway, Liverpool will reward the 25-year-old and ensure a long-term perspective. According to the English media, Szobo is considered a strong candidate to take over the captain’s armband from Van Dijk.
