Wirtz has been convinced by Arne Slot that his future lies at Anfield, not the Etihad. The 22-year-old is so ready for a move to Liverpool that he is responding this week to the rumour that he is demanding “his” shirt number from the Reds. The Premier League club has fired off bids of €130 million, well above what Bayern Munich are willing to pay, but Bayer Leverkusen are still not happy. Now there are reports of a Plan B.

There is no doubt that Wirtz is and will be the top target for Liverpool this summer, but everything has its limits. According to German Bild, Leverkusen rejected the giant bid of 130 million euros. They are demanding an even wilder 150 million euros.

The German media claims Liverpool have a Plan B, if the club finds out that the transfer fee for Wirtz can no longer be properly included in the total budget. Plan B is none other than Rafael Leao at AC Milan. The Serie A club is “settling” for 100 million euros for the 25-year-old left-winger genius.
