According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool have submitted a British record bid for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

The reigning Premier League champions have reportedly made a bid worth around £130 million for the “world-class” Swedish international, who is desperate to move to Anfield in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Newcastle, who originally valued Isak at £150 million, are said to be prepared to lower their sale price following the deal to sign Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade as a replacement.

This has opened the doors for Liverpool to make a new, improved offer for Isak, which Newcastle have yet to reject, and open dialogue is expected between all parties.

It is believed that Isak has already agreed personal terms to join Liverpool, and there is optimism that he will move to Anfield before Monday’s transfer deadline.

“Secret” meetings held over Isak deal According
to CaughtOffside, representatives of Liverpool and Newcastle have been holding “secret” meetings for a week in an attempt to reach an agreement on the transfer fee for Isak.

Discussions are believed to be developing well, with Liverpool getting closer to signing their main target and closing an incredible window for the club.

Arne Slot’s side have spent almost £300 million on new players this summer, including a club-record £116 million for former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz.

The Reds also have the second most expensive signing this summer, with Hugo Ekitike joining from Eintracht Frankfurt for a specified package worth £79 million.

Isak has scored 62 goals and provided 11 assists in 109 appearances for Newcastle.

Isak is unlikely to play for Newcastle again, after the management at St James’ Park recently failed to convince the 25-year-old striker to return to Eddie Howe’s first team.

The Swedish international is training away from his Newcastle teammates after making it clear that he wants to join Liverpool, despite having three years left on his contract.

Isak released a statement on social media following Newcastle’s decision to reject Liverpool’s first bid, accusing the club of breaking a promise to let him leave this summer.

The 25-year-old had the best season of his career at St James’ Park in 2024/25, scoring 27 goals and providing six assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.
