Few in the red part of Manchester are comfortable with what has happened to the club’s great player – and the way it was done. Rashford didn’t want to be on the pitch in a United shirt for the past two seasons, but no one doubts the 27-year-old’s qualities when he’s at his best. Arne Slot expects this top to come quickly in the Villa shirt, but asks to avoid it in Wednesday’s game.
There was a smash in the woodwork when Marcus Rashford headed in with a free-kick against Ipswich. Ollie Watkins put in the rebound and Aston Villa saved a point. Arne Slot knows Liverpool need to keep a close eye on the United player on loan.
“The first time I met him (Rashford) live on the pitch was on the US tour, and I was impressed. I was really impressed with how fast he is and how comfortable he is with the ball. He is a very good player. I hope for him that he gets to show it at Villa,” Slot begins at the press conference.
Because he reminds himself that this should not come against Liverpool on Wednesday.
“Of course I hope he doesn’t do it tomorrow (Wednesday), but I would be completely surprised if a player of his quality doesn’t show it,” says Slot.
