A Liverpool star has reportedly decided to seek a new club just hours after the club made a new bid for Florian Wirtz.
In recent weeks, Liverpool have been working around the clock to get the Wirtz transfer in place. On Friday night, news broke that the Reds had sent a new bid to Bayer Leverkusen for the 22-year-old German international.

Journalist Paul Joyce of The Times wrote on social media:
“Liverpool have sent a revised bid to Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz of £113 million as negotiations between the clubs continue. The package guarantees Leverkusen £100 million, with an additional £13 million in bonuses.”
Chiesa wants to return to Italy
However, just hours after this news, a current Liverpool player, Federico Chiesa, has reportedly expressed a desire to leave the club this summer.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported:
“Understood that Federico Chiesa’s priority in this summer transfer window is to return to Italy. Chiesa loves Liverpool, but limited playing time is an issue, and Italian clubs have reached out to get information on possible terms of a deal.”
Chiesa, 27, joined Liverpool last summer from Juventus in a move worth around £10 million (£118 million). But the winger was hit hard by several injuries, which meant that he was unable to secure a permanent place in Arne Slot’s starting eleven.
In total, Chiesa only played 14 games across all competitions, but scored two goals and provided two assists.
Reflecting on a difficult year
In a recent interview with Corriere dello Sport, Chiesa reflected on a year of “many difficulties”:
“The first months there were many challenges. Imagine arriving at Liverpool on August 26 and suddenly being thrown onto another planet, with new teammates, without having trained with them – just with a coach, no friendlies, nothing.”
Chiesa added:
“I had to compete with a Ballon d’Or candidate [Mohamed Salah] on the right wing. On the left side were Luis Díaz and Cody Gakpo. Slot also used me as the ninth striker. The will to play was there, but I understood the situation and put aside all forms of individualism.”
With Chiesa’s desire to return to Italy and Liverpool’s aggressive pursuit of Wirtz, it looks like a major shake-up could be underway at Anfield this summer.
