Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been outstanding on their respective flanks at Liverpool for a number of years. It therefore pains the Scot to see his teammate erase everything he has achieved, after the decision came to walk out as a free agent this summer.

“Brother, where do I really start?” It has been an absolute privilege to watch you grow from boy to man over the past eight years. You’ve won everything and created memories along the way,” Robertson begins on his Instagram profile.

“I want to thank you for always pushing me towards new goals and for setting the bar so high that I had no choice but to follow suit. You will be really missed at the training facility and even more so on the field. I hope that all the hard work you have put into this club, the moments you have given us and the incredible effort you have delivered will be recognized as it deserves.”

With a clear call to the Liverpool supporters before the last game at Anfield. Last time, as is well known, it ended with a beeping concert every time substitute Alexander-Arnold touched the ball, much to Robertson’s frustration.
