On Deadline Day, Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi was on his way to Liverpool, believed the player and the reigning Premier League champions. Then Palace stepped on the brakes when the club failed to find a replacement for the England international. Pundits (and probably Palace management) thought Liverpool would open up a new bid in January, but this will not happen, reports a major English newspaper.
Marc Guehi was crystal clear he wanted to go to Liverpool, the transfer that collapsed at the very end of the season is said to have made the 25-year-old unhappy, to say the least. Guehi is a professional and will still deliver the goods at Palace, but will have to be patient. Because according to The Times, Liverpool do not intend to return in January with a new bid, they have decided to wait until the summer when their contract with Crystal Palace expires.

For Guehi, this means no winter transfer if he is still fired up to pull on the Liverpool shirt, for Palace this means a few tens of millions of pounds that never come.
