At the weekend, Newcastle secured a Champions League ticket and sends grateful thoughts to Manchester United, who made sure to keep Aston Villa in 6th place. This has now made Liverpool change their plans, it is reported.

According to Sky journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool have Alexander Isak as their main target to give the club the necessary power in the No. 9 position. Newcastle’s on-the-hair Champions League ticket means that the club does not have to sell the super Swede. This also means that Liverpool will have to turn around. The Sky journalist claims Hugo Ekitike is now the top target for Liverpool.

The 22-year-old has had his breakthrough at Eintracht Frankfurt this season with 22 goals and 8 assists in 48 games. With 15 of the goals in the Bundesliga, the former PSG player has contributed greatly to Eintracht securing a strong 3rd place in the Bundesliga, something they were 25 points away from achieving last season.

Eintracht boss Markus Krosche has acknowledged that it is heading for sale this summer, but has clarified that the French player is “one of the most promising strikers on the market in Europe” – and has put his price expectations accordingly at around €100 million.

Liverpool will face competition from Chelsea and potentially Arsenal as well.
