Record signings for Liverpool
The Reds shattered their club record to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, while Jeremie Frimpong has also arrived at Anfield. Milos Kerkez has also been picked up by the reigning Premier League champions.
Newcastle Summer Activity
The Magpies, on the other hand, have signed Spanish youngster Antonio Cordero and are close to a move for Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga in a deal worth £55 million.
Intense rumors surrounding Isak
Despite Eddie Howe’s side securing a place in the Champions League, Isak has been the subject of intense transfer speculation. Isak is not the only star striker dominating the transfer rumours, as Hugo Ekitike’s name is still being linked to several clubs, including Newcastle.
Ekitike attracts a lot of interest
According to French RMC Sports, the 23-year-old is attracting interest from three clubs “with funds that match their ambitions”.
Newcastle are among those interested, along with Saudi Arabia’s Al Qadsiah and Al Hilal, who have contacted the player’s representatives.
However, according to the report, Ekitike prefers to stay in Europe for the time being.
He is believed to be worth a whopping €100 million (£86 million), which would shatter Newcastle’s club record for a transfer.
Newcastle’s interest confirmed
In a separate report, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Newcastle are interested in Ekitike.
Ekitike, who previously belonged to Paris Saint-Germain, scored 22 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt last season.
Ekitike’s career path
The tall French striker came through Reims’ youth academy before breaking into the first team.
He then signed for Frankfurt, who activated the purchase option in his loan deal from PSG.
The German club paid €16.5 million (£14.2 million) to secure his services on a permanent deal.
