Luis Díaz is still determined to join Barcelona this summer and believes that Florian Wirtz’s arrival at Liverpool will trigger his exit from Anfield.

The Colombian international, who was brought to Liverpool from Porto for £37 million in January 2022, played a key role in Liverpool’s Premier League triumph last season.
Díaz has two years left on his contract on Merseyside, and the club has recently rejected the possibility of him leaving the team.
But the 28-year-old still has his heart set on a move to Camp Nou, and Mundo Deportivo reports that he is “just thinking about playing for Barcelona next season”.
According to the report, Díaz feels “unappreciated” by his club and believes this is his last chance to secure a dream transfer to the team he has supported since childhood. He has therefore put all contract negotiations with Liverpool on hold.

Wirtz signing could open the door for Díaz’s departure
Although Arne Slot’s team are desperate to keep him, Díaz believes that Wirtz’s imminent arrival will make it easier for him to leave.
Wirtz is about to become the Premier League’s most expensive signing ever, with a package worth £126 million that is close to being agreed for the Bayer Leverkusen star.

Díaz’s ambiguous statements about the future
Earlier this month, Díaz stated that he is “very happy” at Liverpool, but refused to commit to the club for the long term.
“I’m very happy here at Liverpool, I’ve always said that. They have welcomed me very well,” Díaz said.
“We are in contact with them [Liverpool] now, because of course we are talking to clubs. It’s normal. The transfer window is opening and we are trying to sort out what is best for us.”
When asked about a contract extension with Liverpool, he replied: “Like I said, I’m waiting for it to happen. If Liverpool give us a good extension, or I get the two years I need with them, I will be happy and satisfied. It all depends on them, I’m just here to make a decision and assess what’s best for us.”
