After seeing Milos Kerkez thundering around the Premier League arena in a Bournemouth shirt and signing with Liverpool in the summer, we were convinced the Reds had got a new John Arne Riise type at left-back. It also started promisingly for Kerkez in his debut against Bournemouth, but after this the Riise comparison seems distant. Now the supporters are “shouting” to keep Kerez away from the team on match day.

The Hungarian international was put on the bench against Real Madrid and was given the last minutes of the game to be able to feel the CL ball. Andy Robertson had shown himself and caused trouble for the Real players on the left wing. We saw the clear difference between Robertson and Kerkez, where the 31-year-old had a composure with the ball the 21-year-old is far from matching.

Liverpool supporters threw themselves at the keyboard to give their opinion on social media, here is a selection:

“I don’t understand why Arne Slot thought that Kerkez is better than Andy Robertson.”

“[Robertson was] really good last night… please, don’t let Kerkez come near the team.”

“It’s clear that Kerkez should start, so it’s starting to look like a very bad buy.”

“Robertson in the last two games… When he’s good, he’s good… Kerkez should sit down and watch him to learn.”

“So Kerkez has been our problem all along.”

“Kerkez seemed terrible for the few minutes he was on.”

“We’re going to see Prime Robertson this season. Light years ahead of “Kerkez.”

Then we will see if Arne Slot agrees.
