The biggest clubs in the Premier League often chase the same players. Then it’s about working fast, smart and using what is of pointed elbows in the signing battle. Now it is reported that Liverpool have bought an Arsenal signing who should have been a “done deal”.

Salford City’s 17-year-old Will Wright (Beckham and United’s club) has attracted interest from a bunch of big clubs. Although the striker has only made four appearances for the senior team so far – without scoring – Arsenal have been pushing to sign the talent. The London club had received an offer accepted by Salford for Wright, but had not agreed on personal terms.

Now, The Athletic reports that Liverpool have thrown themselves in and secured a deal, with the reigning Premier League champions now agreeing with both Salford and Wright. Now a medical check-up is waiting for the 17-year-old.

The transfer costs Liverpool around £200,000, with Wright scheduled to play for Liverpool’s U21 team, which is coached by former Wales captain Rob Page.
