Having just won their second ever Premier League title, Liverpool are clearly not content to relax and enjoy their success this summer. The Reds have already taken important steps to strengthen the team in the hope of defending their title in the 2025/26 season.

Arne Slot has already brought in the exciting new reinforcements Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, while a deal for Bournemouth’s left-back Milos Kerkez is also in place. However, it does not seem as if the Anfield club intends to stop there.

The latest rumours suggest that a bold transfer for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak could be on the horizon. However, in order to finance this ambition, it will probably be necessary to sell some players first.

According to Express, five current Liverpool players could be sold to raise funds for a transfer for the Swedish superstar, in a deal that could cost up to £150 million.

Five players who can disappear:

1. Jarell Quansah (Defender)

Not long ago, it looked like Jarell Quansah was going to be Virgil van Dijk’s partner and possible long-term successor. But under Slot, his place in the team has become more uncertain, and the young defender seems to be on his way out.

Although Liverpool have already signed two players from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, it looks like Quansah could move in the opposite direction – with a transfer worth around £35 million.

2. Andy Robertson (Defender)

With Trent Alexander-Arnold already leaving the club for Real Madrid, Liverpool’s backline will look completely different next season. Frimpong will take the right-back spot, but the left side also seems to be changed.

Andy Robertson has been ravaging up and down the left wing at Anfield for many years, but with the arrival of Kerkez, it could be the right time to phase him out. Atletico Madrid are linked with a possible transfer, and if Liverpool want to get a good sum for the Scottish full-back, now could be their last chance.

3. Darwin Núñez (talk)

Alexander Isak is undoubtedly one of the world’s best strikers at the moment. For Liverpool, the same cannot be said for Darwin Núñez. The Uruguayan striker has been exceptionally uneven during his time at Anfield and looks set to leave the club this summer.

Napoli are currently in talks to sign Núñez, and any sales funds are likely to go directly to bringing in a replacement in attack.

4. Diogo Jota (Attack)

If Liverpool really want to sign Isak, they will probably need more money than they get from a sale of Núñez. Therefore, Diogo Jota also seems to be at risk this summer.

Although he is a proficient goalscorer – according to Jamie Carragher even better than Michael Owen, Luis Suárez, Fernando Torres and Robbie Fowler – the Portuguese striker’s injury history has been a concern. With a contract that expires next summer, now may be the right time to sell.

5. Luis Díaz (Attack)

Luis Díaz has long been a transfer target for Barcelona, and GIVEMESPORT revealed in June that the player is “open” to leaving Liverpool this summer.

The club may not want to sell him, but a high bid from Saudi Al-Nassr could be hard to turn down – especially if the money can be spent directly on Isak. With Wirtz also able to play on the left wing, Díaz’s role in the team may have already become less important.

What does this mean for Liverpool?

If these sales go through, it will give Liverpool significant funds to go hard for Alexander Isak. The Swedish international striker has impressed greatly at Newcastle and could be a key player in Slot’s new Liverpool era.

But it will also mean a major upheaval in the squad – which could be a risk in the attempt to defend the league title.
