Luis Diaz asks Liverpool to accept Bayern Munich’s offer – future ‘increasingly secure’

Liverpool star Luis Diaz is wanted by Bayern Munich

New, strong reports claim that Luis Diaz has asked Liverpool’s management to accept Bayern Munich’s latest offer, while a reliable source reveals why the German giants are more and more confident of completing a deal – with a lower sale price than initially thought.

The Colombian player became a key player under Arne Slot and had his best season yet in a Liverpool shirt as the club won the Premier League in the Dutch manager’s first season. Diaz played a central but often understated role, either as a false nine or on the left wing, with 25 goals in 50 games – a goal point every 133 minutes he played.

But with a contract that expires in less than two years, Diaz is disappointed that Liverpool will not renew the deal. Although his £55,000-a-week salary (following his move from Porto in January 2022) has increased slightly, he is still among the lowest-paid in the squad’s first eleven.

Therefore, talks about a move to Bayern Munich – who clearly value the player and are reportedly willing to more than triple his salary – have gained momentum in recent weeks.

Two bids have already been rejected by Liverpool, but Bayern are not giving up and are now preparing a third offer they hope will be accepted.

According to respected Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, Diaz has now asked Liverpool to accept Bayern’s latest offer if they do not want to extend his contract – with the aim of improving his “terms”.

In addition, Bild journalist Christian Falk believes that it is “increasingly certain” that Diaz will end up at Bayern.

“Bayern Munich are more and more convinced that they will eventually sign Luis Diaz,” he told Caught Offside. “Now it’s all about the money between the German champions and Liverpool. Bayern have already had two bids rejected: first €52 million [£43.3 million], then €67.5 million [£58.5 million].”

Liverpool’s sale price for Diaz revealed

Falk emphasizes that direct negotiations are ongoing between the
clubs: “Bayern are now in talks with Liverpool. They want to avoid having to make another bid that can be rejected —they are determined to find a solution.”

He added
: “Bayern are clear with the player: they will give Diaz a four-year contract worth €14 million [£12.1 million] gross per year. According to my sources, he earns only €2.7 million [£2.3 million] net at Liverpool – significantly less than what he can earn in Munich. This is one of the reasons why he wants a transfer, as he feels he would be more appreciated.”

No signs of unrest in the squad

Liverpool have publicly insisted that the player is not for sale. Diaz is also training as usual with the team in China, ahead of the clash against AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday – with no signs of him being mentally absent.

Nevertheless, speculation is increasing. According to talkSPORT, Bayern are ready to make another bid of up to £70 million (€81 million), which is close to Liverpool’s real claim of £65 million (€75 million), according to TEAMtalk.

An agreement may therefore depend on bonus schemes and payment structure. Bayern are also willing to offer Diaz £230,000 a week – a significant wage increase.
