There is still plenty of time to extend the deal of Colombian left winger Luis Diaz, but wise from injury, Liverpool want to avoid negotiations on the eve of the game as they are now doing with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
Luis Diaz joined Liverpool in January 2022 from Porto in a transfer worth €52 million. It was a stroke of luck, the 27-year-old, who can play in several attacking positions, is an important part of Liverpool’s success, also this year.
Liverpool won Wednesday’s quarter-final against Southampton in the English League Cup 2 – 1, on Sunday they face Tottenham away at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League.
Luis Diaz is reportedly in contract talks with the Merseyside club over a new deal.
Now Colombian Antena2 states that negotiations have stalled between the parties. Instead, a shock transition should be relevant. “Luis Diaz could move after the season and that the star himself dreams of a transfer to FC Barcelona”.
Diaz reportedly had a childhood dream of one day playing for the Catalan giants. Liverpool want to keep the Colombian, but are prepared to accept a bid of around €80 million.
Since joining Liverpool almost three years ago, Luis Diaz has made 120 appearances, 33 goals and 16 assists.
The Colombian has a contract with Liverpool until the summer of 2027.
