Paris Saint-Germain’s plan is to continue to be Europe’s and with it the world’s best club.

Manager Luis Enrique has been clear to PSG’s board: if they want to repeat the European triumph, the team must be strengthened in three specific positions.

The Asturian coach, who has already lifted the Champions League trophy with Barcelona before repeating the triumph with Paris Saint-Germain, will not let any loose ends create uncertainty in his Paris project. To reach the continent’s very highest level, he has asked for:

  1. A new goalkeeper – should Gianluigi Donnarumma leave the club
  2. A centre-back to ensure depth and competition in defence
  3. A right-back to give Achraf Hakimi a well-deserved rest

Strategic reinforcement – not big sales

PSG’s sporting planning this summer is controlled. The club has no intention of making massive signings, but rather focuses on targeted reinforcements that preserve the balance of the newly triumphant European squad.

Targeted searches for reinforcements

  • Central defence: Luis Enrique wants a defender who can compete with Marquinhos and William Pacho, with Bournemouth’s Illja Zabarnyi high on his wish list.
  • Right-back: The lack of a highly-rated reserve for Hakimi makes it necessary to find a seamless replacement.
  • Goalkeeper: If Donnarumma is sold, PSG are ready to start the search for a new goalkeeper.

First signing in place – more on the way

So far, Renato Marin is the only confirmed signing – a low-threshold purchase that does not affect the starting line-up. But with undiminished ambition, PSG are now preparing to meet the coach’s demands with the same seriousness as they showed on the road to the top of Europe.

PSG are working purposefully to build on their success, with Luis Enrique as the demanding architect. The key lies not in revolutionizing, but in reinforcing strategically – always with the Champions League title as the ultimate goal.
