Luis Suárez can continue to play football with his friends in pink shirts and has signed an extension with Inter Miami. Leading the triumph were former Barcelona quartet Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
Messi signed a new contract with Miami this fall, while Busquets and Alba have announced that they are retiring. As for Suárez’s future, there have been question marks.
Now it is clear that the Uruguayan will stay in Florida. Suárez has signed a one-year contract with Inter Miami, the club announces in its channels. The 38-year-old’s new deal is for the 2026 season.

“All in, one more time”
Luis Suárez has scored 42 goals and made 29 assists in 87 competitive games since his arrival at Inter Miami in 2024 from Gremio.
Suárez signs a new contract after recently finishing the historic 2025 season, which was his second year at the club. The striker’s extensive experience and leadership were crucial as Inter Miami secured their third and fourth titles by winning the Eastern Conference Championship and MLS Cup presented by Audi, while also excelling on the international stage with a historic trip to the round of 16 of the reimagined 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and reaching the semifinals of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup. Suárez played a total of 50 games across all competitions in 2025, scoring 17 goals and providing 17 assists for a total of 34 assists.
Suárez, from Salto, Uruguay, originally arrived at Inter Miami ahead of the 2024 season. Suárez was then a key player as Inter Miami had a record-breaking 2024 season, securing its first Supporters’ Shield title and setting an MLS record for most points in a single season. His efforts were crucial for the season, as he led the team in goals with 25 across all competitions; Suárez’s 20 league goals were also the second-highest tally of any player in MLS in 2024 (tied with teammate Lionel Messi). The striker also added nine assists in the regular season, as well as one goal and one assist in the playoffs. He was an ever-present figure leading the team’s offense, playing 37 games across all competitions in 2024, including 27 in the series.
In total, Suárez has recorded a whopping 42 goals – the second-highest in the club’s history – and 30 assists in 87 appearances across all competitions for Inter Miami.
Before joining Inter Miami, Suárez amassed an extensive list of titles, including a coveted UEFA Champions League triumph, one FIFA Club World Cup, five LaLiga, one Eredivisie, four Copa del Rey, one EFL Cup, one KNVB Cup, two Uruguay’s Primera División, one Campeonato Gaúcho, one UEFA Super Cup, and two Supercopa de España titles. The striker also led Uruguay to a prestigious Conmebol Copa America title in 2011 and went on to become his nation’s top scorer (69) and the second most winning player with 161 caps.
The goal-scoring striker has claimed dozens of personal accolades throughout his career. Among other things, he has been the top scorer in one competition seven times: KNVB Cup (2009-10; eight goals), Eredivisie (2009-10; 35 goals), Conmebol World Cup qualification (2013-14; 11 goals), English Premier League (2013-14; 31 goals), FIFA Club World Cup (2015; five goals), Copa del Rey (2015-16; five goals) and LaLiga (2015-16; 40 goals). His league goals in 2013-14 and 2015-16 earned him the European Golden Shoe, and his total of 31 Premier League goals in 2013-14 was the competition’s record for a season at the time.
Suárez has achieved Dutch Footballer of the Year (2009-10), Copa América Best Player (2011), Premier League Player of the Season (2013-14), FIFA Club World Cup Golden Ball (2015), Trofeo Alfredo di Stéfano (2020-21) and Bola de Ouro (2023) during his career. He has also been included in the FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World 11 once, the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team once, the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season three times, the PFA Team of the Year twice, the LaLiga Team of the Season twice, the Copa América Team of the Tournament once, the Uruguayan Primera Divisións Team of the Season once, and the Campeonato Gaúcho Team of the Season once.
