20 Premier League clubs are chasing the sale, loan and purchase of players on the January transfer market. This is the last opportunity to give the manager the last necessary tools to last until the end of the season. Manchester City have been in control of the situation in the squad for more than five years, with the winter transfer window being used for tinkering. 2025 was the time for panic signings.

Out driving in the Champions League and a Premier League season the supporters have not experienced under Pep Guardiola. Monday was Deadline Day, the BBC has summed up what has been used for signings in the world’s toughest league. Here, City are in a “class of their own”.

According to the English media, Manchester City spent £180 million in the January window. To put the amount in context, this is roughly as much as the rest of the 19 Premier League clubs spent combined (£370 million in total for all PL clubs).

These are the players City registered in 2025: Omar Marmoush (Frankfurt), Vitor Reis (Palmeiras), Abdukodir Khusanov (Lens), Claudio Echeverri (River Plate) and Nico Gonzalez (Porto)

Then we will see if half a football team of new players creates more chaos for Guardiola, or saves the season.
