It is being built for the future. When Manchester United, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on duty, paid up to 37 million euros including bonuses for an Ivorian teenager, many people were probably stunned. Amad Diallo arrived in Manchester in the summer of 2020, but was of course not ready to deliver in the world’s toughest league. Four years later, the 22-year-old is emerging as one of Manchester United’s sharpest.

Of course, it must be rewarded. This season, Diallo has made the final breakthrough and then some. The right winger has served up assists or delivered goals when United have needed it most, most recently at Anfield ten minutes before the end.

On Thursday, the confirmation came, Diallo and Manchester United have agreed on an extension. There should be no doubt that the 22-year-old is part of the long-term plan, the contract runs until 2030.

“I am very proud to sign this new contract. I’ve had some incredible moments at this club already, but this is just the start. I have huge ambitions for myself and I want to be part of writing history at United,” Diallo told the club’s website.

Congratulations!
