After the chaotic game against Bodø/Gilmt on Thursday that ended with a narrow United victory, Ruben Amorim admitted that he goes into the game with a strong concern that he has no idea how the team will react. Two handfuls of training sessions together is all Amorim and the player have had, but after his Premier League debut, the United manager could already see which position needs to be strengthened. Against Glimt, the confirmation came.
Luke Shaw got a few minutes against Ipswich on the left wing, against Glimt it was Tyrell Malacia’s turn. For the Dutchman, this was the first game in 18 months. Philip Zinkernagel showed no pity for Malacia’s lack of match practice and deceived the United player time and time again. After 45 minutes, Malacia escaped the humiliation of being substituted.

“A new player in that position, left-back, is still a top priority, and from what I hear even after the Ipswich game, the message from Ruben Amorim to Manchester United management is that we need a player in a left-hand position in 2025. Could be January, could be summer, based on opportunities, based on price, based on several factors, but Man United want to go for a player in that position,” transfer journalist Romano reported last week.
Now, Sky Sports‘ Floarian Plettenberg reports that Manchester United have put Theo Hernandez on the list of candidates to fill the space on the left wing. United have been heavily linked with the high-speed train Alphonso Davies, who has a contract expiring in the summer, but here both Real Madrid and Barcelona are in a strong position.

Hernandez has worn the AC Milan shirt since 2019 and played his way to the Serie A title and stardom in Italy. The France international is one of the key players for Paulo Fonseca’s Milan and wore the captain’s armband in Davide Calabria’s absence.
