United boss Ratcliffe opened up earlier this winter for “all the players” (except Bruno Fernandes, of course) to be sold. This month, he followed it up by saying that “it would be completely illogical to sell the best players”. But when there is a pure sale profit of £70 million, then it matters less that the player is described as United’s “heart and soul” by club legends.
In January, it caused a storm on social media, when Manchester United supporters heard reports that Kobbie Mainoo could be on his way to Chelsea. When it later became known that the 19-year-old made a gigantic wage demand to extend with United, the mood changed.

The Manchester Evening News usually has an overview of what is happening behind the scenes at Manchester United, now the local newspaper reports that there is a real possibility that Mainoo and United will part ways this summer.
The parties have not reached an agreement on an extension, if Mainoo does not lower the requirement for conditions, it may well end in a sale, reports the local newspaper on Thursday.

Ratcliffe posted earlier this month about how contracts with overpaid players are holding United back, Mainoo is unlikely to be able to push the United management to go back in this rut.
Manchester United have barely sold players with large sales gains over the past decade, if Mainoo ends up exiting around £70 million, he enters as one of the biggest player sales in club history.
