Manchester United are ready to increase their offer for Bryan Mbeumo, after journalist Rudy Galetti revealed how much the Red Devils are now willing to pay for the Brentford winger. A move to Old Trafford could have consequences for Amad Diallo’s playing time.

After a very disappointing season that ended with 15th place in the Premier League and a loss in the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United are determined to right their feet before the 2025/26 season. Although a championship race next season is unrealistic, the club is aiming for a Champions League place.

Manchester United in active transfer market

Already this summer, United have been active in the transfer market with the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves. Amorim plans to use the Brazilian as one of his two attacking midfielders.

In addition, the club is on the hunt for a top striker, while they are working intensely to get a deal in place with Brentford for Mbeumo.

Sources have repeatedly told TEAMtalk that Mbeumo, despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur, has made it clear that he wants to join Manchester United.

Record bid on the way

United have had a £55m bid rejected, but there are reports of growing confidence that they can secure the Cameroonian winger for £60m.

Italian journalist Galetti has revealed that United are willing to pay £63 million plus bonuses for the player, and that “final details” with Brentford will soon be in place.

If this deal is realised, it will be Brentford’s biggest sale ever – surpassing Ivan Toney’s £34 million move to Al-Ahli in 2024.

What does this mean for Amad Diallo?

With Mbeumo’s arrival, Amad Diallo’s role in the team could change. TBR journalist Graeme Bailey reveals that the Ivorian talent is likely to be retrained to a right wing-back role in Amorim’s system.

“Amad probably knows he’s moving towards a role as a right wing-back,” Bailey said. “This is not a traditional wing-back role as we know it in English football. Amorim used him there in his first game against Ipswich Town.”

Bailey added: “The signings of Cunha and Mbeumo, as well as the fact that Zirkzee is still at the club, suggest that Amad’s options as an attacking midfielder are limited next season. But he is still important in Amorim’s plans, and in this role he can become a huge weapon.”
