Manchester United have taken steps to find a deal to sign Bayern Munich’s star player Leon Goretzka this summer.
However, with Casemiro leaving the club when his contract expires, and Manuel Ugarte is also expected to leave due to a lack of game time, United have now started trying to bring in the German as well.

Manchester United, who are currently in 3rd place in the Premier League, will not be back in action until April 13th. – Then they welcome classic rivals from Leeds at Old Trafford.
Manchester United ‘take action’ for Goretzka
Goretzka, who currently earns around £300,000 a week at Bayern Munich, is expected to leave the Bundesliga giants at the end of the season when his contract expires, having become less important to manager Vincent Kompany.
This has led to several clubs across Europe showing great interest in bringing the midfield powerhouse to their club, and this includes the Old Trafford club, who are keen to strengthen their midfield.
It is understood that the 31-year-old is ready for the transfer, and he is even willing to take a pay cut to join his next club, and it is believed that Manchester United have an advantage in the race for his signature, as he feels he can become a regular starter.
Manchester United are set to prioritise players with Premier League experience, which is why the likes of Anderson and Tonali are at the top of their wish list, but the club is also open to market opportunities, which is probably why they are exploring a bid to sign Goretzka.
Goretzka is not what Man Utd need
Goretzka is a very experienced midfielder who has had a great career, but there is a reason why he doesn’t get playing time at Bayern anymore, and that is because he is past his prime.
His motor skills have always been his greatest strength, and his box-to-box attributes would certainly help Man Utd in the short term. But at the age of 31, and with big wages likely on the agenda, this goes against everything INEOS wants to do and it would be an odd transition.
United already have enough midfield goals on the block, and abandoning those plans for someone who has a completely different profile wouldn’t make much sense, so this feels like a deal they should avoid, and it’s possible that it’s the agent playing games to try and generate more interest.
